As a barista with Meeting House Cafe, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and well stocked workplace and dining area, updating displays, and continuously expanding your knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation. Above all, you will be committed to providing customers with exceptional service through positive, friendly and knowledgeable communication. A successful candidate will have experience working in a coffee shop (preferred), and be available to work during early morning hours, including on holidays and on weekends. Your customer-focused approach will increase profitability, boost customer and community engagement and ensure the cafe remains a favorite local spot.

Responsibilities
‘ Ensuring our customers have the very best dining experience
‘ Welcoming guests, providing information about daily specials, give suggestions, answers questions, take orders and accept payments
‘ Prepare food, grinds and blends coffee beans, brews coffee and tea and serves guests
‘ Educate customers about the different kinds of brewing methods
‘ Cleans and restocks work and dining areas, empties the trash and sanitizes all equipment and utensils
‘ To learn about presentation techniques that improve quality and the customer experience
‘ Updates signage and displays, as needed
‘ Keeps inventory updated and replenishes display cases
‘ Brings positivity and good energy to the team
‘ Maintains vigilant attention to detail with regard to all food and safety requirements and quality controls

Requirements
‘ High School Diploma or equivalent
‘ Experience with food and beverage preparation or customer service preferred
‘ A teachable outlook and willingness to continue learning the nuances of craft coffee, food preparation and presentation while providing exceptional customer service
‘ Highly advanced listening and communication skills
‘ The ability to walk, bend and stand for extended periods of time
‘ Prior knowledge of POS systems and bar equipment and a willingness to learn
‘ Ability to communicate detailed information accurately and process very detailed information
‘ Availability to work during peak cafe hours (early mornings, evenings, holidays and weekends)
‘ Polite and engaging, always respectful
‘ Commitment to customer satisfaction

Meeting House – Cafe Supervisor:

Job Summary

As Cafe Supervisor, you’ll be joining a rapidly growing company set to ramp up store openings in multiple locations in the near future. The sky’s the limit in terms of opportunity ahead. This supervisory role offers almost unlimited opportunity for advancement into upper level management responsibilities requiring the regional oversight of multiple cafe locations. In addition to growing locally, we are growing nationally with many new Meeting House Cafes planned for Portland, Idaho and Montana – to start. 😉

Our Cafe Supervisor will be responsible for scheduling shifts, staffing and organization. You will oversee baristas and wait staff and closely monitor daily expenses, revenues and supplies (like coffee, milk and snacks). To be successful in this role you will have experience working in a coffee shop in various roles, preferably, and be available to work during opening hours, including on holidays and weekends. Your role will ultimately help Meeting House to increase profitability, boost customer and community engagement and ensure the cafe remains a favorite local gathering spot.

Responsibilities

‘ Ensure the best experience for our customers
‘ Manage day-to-day operations
‘ Hire, onboard, train new staff and baristas
‘ Train employees on drink preparation, recipes and proper use of coffee equipment
‘ Coordinate with vendors and order supplies, as needed (examples: take out cups, coffee, milk and other ingredients) to maintain inventory levels
‘ Demonstrate excellent customer service with a positive demeanor when dealing with cafe patrons, fielding all complaints promptly, answering questions, and making meal suggestions when asked
‘ Assist with cleaning the cafe and dining area, picking up trash, clearing and washing plates and dishes, and wiping down tables, when needed.
‘ Adhere to food handler safety standards at all times, making sure all food is free of contaminants or pathogens and ensuring that all industry and COVID guidelines are followed to the letter
‘ Maintain updated records of daily, weekly and monthly revenue and expenses
‘ Add new menu items based on seasonality and customer preferences/trends
‘ Advise staff re: best practices to resolve conflict and deliver excellent service to our guests
‘ Ensure all areas remain clean and tidy
‘ Nurture friendly relationships; to increase customer loyalty and trust with each of our guests, as well as the greater Spokane community

Pay and Benefits

$14.00 – $17.00 per hour 

Requirements

‘ Experience in management or supervisory role at a cafe or similar food service establishment
‘ Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines
‘ Good math skills
‘ Availability during early morning hours (opening hours) including weekends and on holidays
‘ Excellent communication with the ability to manage and motivate a team
‘ Food handlers license or certification that is valid in Washington State
‘ Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal with a variety of patrons
‘ Knowledge of kitchen sanitation, cleaning, and maintenance preferred
‘ High school degree or GRE
‘ Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time
‘ Additional certification (e.g. Business Administration or Hospitality) a plus!

Toi would like to work with someone who is reliable and dependable with an eye for  floral design for 3-6 months with a base wage of $13.50/hour and some flexibility in hours worked week to week.

In its highest grossing year The Gilded Lily did $200K in business and Toi would be willing to consider selling her well respected shop for somewhere between $25-30K to the right person.
